Every civilization has, so to speak, its keynote, its "kit motif", its dominant principle.

Practices which are tolerable, even justifiable, in one civilization, are intolerable and unjustifiable in another, because in the one case the dominant principle permits and agrees with such practices, and in the other case the dominant principle does not.

American civilization is characterized by a strong compassionateness toward human suffering.

It does not comport with American civilization to behold without indignant pity the spectacle of the sufferings of little children.

I mean the sufferings caused by forced and unnatural extension of the hours of wakefulness.

The sufferings caused by deprivation of time and opportunity for play.

The sufferings caused by the physical, mental, and moral deterioration which is the well-nigh inevitable consequence of premature toil.

To cut off development, therefore, from the American point of view, is the great sin.

To impose heavy weights which are bound to check, physical growth, and by preventing education in the years when the intellect and the character are formative, to stunt mental and moral' growth, that is the unpardonable offense."

And thus, the American Educational system was invented and the great conspiracy to turn a creative and industrious people into a mass of lower educated automatons was formed.

Under the guise of saving the children from sweat-shops, the formal education of this mass of people was conceived to allow the leaders to push them hysterically to fight in war, into mass consumerism and mass party-line voting for the "Good of the people".

Lincoln said in an address which he delivered in 1859:

"There are more mines above the earth's surface than below it."

What he meant was, that the mental and moral nature of the mass of men is a precious mine.

We shall find plenty of gold in it if only we look for it.

To bring this gold to the surface is to contribute in the truest sense to the national welfare and well being.

If you ever visited a T.E.D. conference, you will be motivated by the incredible and diverse ideas of the people attending and speaking.

Education goes deep with people and this is proven when you ask someone where they went to school.

You will get a passionate dissertation on their university studies and whether they are currently working within their chose course of study.

Education is meant to take us into a future that we cannot grasp.

Education is for the most part, lost within a system that was designed back in 1912.

Over 90 years of formal education in the United States and now, education has lost its way.

No one knows what the working world will be like in 5 years let alone 50 years from now when graduating high school students start retiring.

We do see the trend toward self employment and experts are suggesting that the largest employer in the year 2020 will be "self".

In 1912, our governing politicians and scholars set up an educational system designed to take children from the farms and sweat-shops of the 1800’s to factory workers.

How else can we explain the system we all grew up in as it starts with a bell or buzzer to start the day and moves on a consistent timeframes of taking children to adulthood via set hours of learning and buzzers through the days and years? The whole reason for our current education system is to supply industry under the guise of saving children from sweat-shops.

We all agree that before children start school, they are all are brilliant at imagination and asking very open questions in an overwhelming thirst to learn.

They are funny to us because of their openness, frankness and curiosity. Bill Cosby makes a living telling stories about children.

From my experience as a grandfather and watching several generations of children grow up is that all kids have tremendous imagination, curiosity and creativity.

Before school, kids aren’t afraid of being wrong and they aren’t afraid to try. If they don’t know the answer, they will have a go at it and try to answer or simply use their creative minds and make something up.

The point is, if you are not prepared to be wrong, you will never come up with anything original.

Our national educational systems are set up so that if you make a mistake, it is the worst thing that could happen.

We are educating people out of their creative capacities.

We don’t grow into creativity, we grow (or get educated) out of it.

Picasso said:

“All children are born artists. The trouble is to remain an artist as we grow up”.

These children then start school and the teachers ask the questions instead.

The students are then judged based on their answers and comprehension of the assigned studies and thusly graded.

Sometimes the children fit in and do well and sometimes they need to be drugged into compliance and to promote civility in the classroom.

Instead of promoting the creativity and curiosity of these children, the teacher (due to the standardized testing process) is forced to take the child and turn him or her into an automaton that takes in information, stores it and then tests out well.

The teacher is forced to create compliant and directional employees and steer you away from what you love to do.

It is not the teachers fault, it is the systems fault and the fact that money comes into the school system based on standardized tests that supposedly shows the school systems ability to create great students.

The MEAP and ACT testing products send a lot of money to the companies that sell them.

These companies are in the pockets of the politicians and school administrators who are forced to use the testing.

When the military started testing enlistments in the armed services a trend developed.

During World War 1, the literacy rate was higher than today’s enlistments.

Since the start of the American Educational system in 1912, tests scores for enlistments have progressively dropped until today, fully 25% of all enlistees fail the entrance exam.

We are now in an age of academic inflation.

A college degree is now worth what a high school degree was worth 30 years ago.

Yet universities are now producing graduates at a record rate.

We need to learn to rethink how we teach.

Rethink how we mine the minds of our children by not stripping out potential.

We need to replace our current educational system in the exploration and promotion of the creativity and individual talents and gifts born into all of us.
