We are definitely a product of our environment and how we were encouraged in life.
Maya Angelou said "I've learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel."
As we go along in life it is our encouraging words and not the negative words given to friends and family that make a difference.

Rich DeVos will tell you that more than being a good business person throughout his life, he was always trying to be the best of cheerleaders.
This ability to lift the spirit in encouragement was one of the most important aspects of his success in business and life.
As a lifelong cheerleader and encourager, Rich often says; "If you have a dream, give it a chance to happen."

It is truly a shame that after a long life, you could die with your song still inside of you.
"We all die. The goal isn't to live forever; the goal is to create something that will live forever." Chuck Palahniuk
"No individual has any right to come into the world and go out of it without leaving behind something of substance to be remembered and to encourage." is a wonderful quote to be remembered by George Washington Carver.

On a grave marker I saw as a child in the Cadillac, Michigan "Maple Hill" Cemetery is the inscription; "That best part of a good man's life, His little unremembered acts of love and kindness." It's a great way to improve everyone's lot in life. Offering acts of kindness not expecting anything in return.

Kindness in words creates confidence in others and in turn lifts our spirits.
Kindness in thinking creates profoundness. Kindness in giving creates love.
Encouragement does not necessarily require words. It can simply be in taking an interest in what others are thinking and doing.
This is often a much more powerful form of encouragement than praise.
One of the sanest, surest, and most generous joys of life comes from being happy over the good fortune of others.

Zig Ziglar often says; "You can have everything in life you want, if you will just help other people get what they want."
William Arthur Ward said; "When we seek to discover the best in others, we somehow bring out the best in ourselves."

Watch your thoughts, for they become words.
Watch your words, for they become actions.
Watch your actions, for they become habits.
Watch your habits, for they become character.
Watch your character, for it becomes your destiny.

When we are able to believe in and encourage others we are taking the first steps in changing our world for the better.
Understand that your words are more precious to the people you come in contact with than you realize.
