A study was done to test to see how a strategy to get more responses in your Snail-Mail campaign would work trying three different mailing methods.

The mailing was sent asking the recipients to respond was sent using the following three methods.
1. A hand signed cover letter, was enclosed with the letter.
2. A cover letter was sent with a blank “Sticky Note attached to the letter.
3. A letter was sent without the cover letter and a Thank You and initialed “Sticky Note (like the one in our picture) attached to the letter.

Method one brought in a 36% response.
Method two brought in a 35% response.
Method three brought in a 74% response.

They questioned the responses and tested the methods again. 

The results were;

Method one brought in a 36% response.
Method two brought in a 35% response.
Method three brought in a 69% response.

Methods one and two were the same as in the first study and method three still outperformed just like in the first test.

Does it make sense? Not sure but the testing proves it and the recommended way to get responses from your mailings is to place a hand written “Thank You” and initials in your future mailings.
